Core Idea: Healing must be contextualized within race, culture, history, and systems of power.

    • Focuses on the mental health impact of colonization, poverty, and oppression.

    • Centered in justice, collective healing, and activism.

  • Culturally Adapted CBT / Psychodynamic Therapy:

    • Integrates spiritual, relational, or communal frameworks of healing.

    • Tailors traditional models to fit cultural meaning-making.

  • Indigenous, Afrocentric, or Ancestral Healing Models:

    • May include storytelling, ritual, or land-based practices.

    • Recognize trauma as collective and intergenerational.
